<International Circulation>: If you think compliance is an issue there are some single pill combinations on the horizon. Do you think the use of these pills may assist in a clinical setting to ensure patients are taking their drugs?

    Prof Juliana Chan:  I think from a patient perspective it might be useful because since we need a number of drugs to control glucose， lipid and blood pressure levels， it can be quite off putting for a patient who has to take 10 drugs. There are some studies that these combination pills do improve compliance.  Maybe my practice is more traditional because I have to admit I have not used a lot of these pills. However， on the other hand the use of these combination pills may limit the titration and personally if you don’t know your patient too well perhaps it is better not to use fixed combinations but rather fine tune it.
